Dianna Lee Nix

Dianna Lee Nix was born on July 8, 1943, in Duluth, Minn. and passed away on Jan. 14, 2026, while living in Republic.
She met Bud Gordon in 1975. They later married and moved with her three boys from Omaha, Neb. to Republic. Together they bought a farm, and they raised the boys as active members of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Over the years, she provided in-home childcare and worked as a housekeeper at both Cherry Manor and Green Haven Care Facilities.
After raising the boys, she and Bud moved into town. Bud passed away, but she did find love again and married Donald Nix on May 27, 1994. They enjoyed a good life together until Don passed in 2006. She was actively attending Calvary Baptist Church in Republic, until her health declined.
She is survived by her sons Robert Scheel and wife Lisa Clayton, of Republic and Michael Scheel and wife Teresa, of Aurora; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister and best friend Linda Livermore of Republic; brothers William Birno and wife Marcia, of Golden Valley, Minn. and David Birno, of Shore View, Minn.; her nieces and nephews; Peggy Asher and her husband Jeff; as well as her many longtime friends.
She is preceded in death by her son James Walter Scheel; husbands Lawrence “Bud” Gordon and Donald Nix; brother-in-law Gary Livermore; and her parents Henry William Birno and Aletha Doris (Bongey) Birno.

Her family received friends and family from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Meadors Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, also at Meadors Funeral Home, with Rex Mooneyham officiating. She will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery next to her late husband, Donald, following the funeral service.
