Janice Griter

Janice Griter, born on Sept. 25, 1949, in Morton, Wash., passed away peacefully in Springfield, on July 15, 2026. A woman of remarkable strength, a fierce work ethic, and a vibrant spirit, she left a lasting mark.
She was a dedicated professional who took great pride in her career in the booming circuit board industry, in the Dallas, Texas area and finally, serving as a supervisor at Solid State Circuits Inc. in Republic.
Her industrious nature didn’t stop when she punched the clock. She was a gifted, hands-on creator, an avid woodworker who enjoyed refinishing furniture, breathing beautiful new life into old, forgotten pieces.
After retiring, she dedicated much attention to spending time with family, including memorable camping trips during deer season with many family members including her father, brother, cousin and nephews.
Those who knew her will fondly remember her unique passions. She had an absolute, unwavering love for cats, who brought endless joy and quiet companionship to her home. However, her gentle affection for felines stood in sharp contrast to her legendary aversion to snakes. She approached yard work with a characteristically practical determination: she never stepped outside to tend her lawn without a sidearm firmly on her hip, ready for any slithering nemeses.
Through all of life’s chapters, rock music was her constant companion. A true enthusiast, she enjoyed the classic sounds of Rod Stewart, and The Eagles, carrying that rebellious rhythm with her to the very end.
She is survived by her son, Eric Wilson; her stepson, Lance Griter, her sister-in-law and lifelong best friend, Dorine Ledgerwood; nieces, Laura Caskey and Brea Dutoit; nephews, Michael Ledgerwood and Jeremiah Ledgerwood; and her step-grandchildren, Richmond Griter, Jedonna Porter and Elijah Lowe.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Griter, parents John Ledgerwood, Marie (Lenora) Ledgerwood, and brothers Harry Ledgerwood, Mark Ledgerwood, and stepson Erin Griter.
