Johnie Earnest Clark

Johnie Earnest Clark passed away on June 4, 2026, at the age of 102. He was born on Feb. 22, 1924, in Pittsburg, Kan., the son of William Walter and Gertie Ethel (Tweedy) Clark. 

As a young man, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a naval aviation maintenance specialist aboard the USS Yorktown CV-10. His service was recognized through the Presidential Unit Citation awarded to the USS Yorktown, along with the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze service star. Following his military service, he began a career with Ford Motor Company, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.

He was married to the love of his life, Anna May Whitaker Clark. Together, they built a loving family and raised two children, Mary Ann Jones and Ralph Clark. After Anna May’s passing, he enjoyed the companionship of his longtime partner, Peggy Province.

He is survived by Province; his grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna May Clark; his daughter, Mary Ann Jones and his son, Ralph Clark.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Marionville IOOF Cemetery in Marionville, under the direction of Williams Funeral Home in Marionville. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well lived and a man deeply loved.
