Lawrence Gene “Larry” Allen

Lawrence Gene “Larry” Allen, 81, of Lockwood, passed away June 30, 2026.
He was born on May 13, 1945, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Lyle and Phyllis Griffith Allen.
He spent his early years in Hopkinton, Iowa, where he attended grade school and was baptized at First Presbyterian Church. In 1957, his family moved to Lockwood, where his parents established Allen Quarries. He graduated from Lockwood High School in 1962 and immediately began working full-time at the family quarry. Over the next 65 years, he devoted his career to the business he loved.
On Dec. 3, 1966, he married the love of his life, Marsha “Chipper” Probert, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve from 1965 to 1972, completing assignments at Fort Leonard Wood and Fort Rucker, Ala.
He was an active member of the Lockwood Chamber of Commerce, served on numerous committees at Immanuel Lutheran Church, was a member of the Lockwood Rural Fire Department and the Rural Fire Board, belonged to the American Legion Roy E. Carr Post 372, and faithfully served on the Lockwood Cemetery Board.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Marsha “Chipper” Allen; his three children, Greg Allen and Chris Allen, both of Lockwood and Jennifer Isdell of Concordia and his six cherished grandchildren,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Phyllis Allen; his brother, Bob Allen; and his son-in-law, Brad Isdell.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial followed at Lockwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood Fire Department or to the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehab Foundation. Services are under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
