Lillian Mae (Stephens) Lehman

Lillian Mae (Stephens) Lehman passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, just 48 days shy of her 100th birthday. At the time of her passing, she was living in Billings, surrounded by the love of family and dear friends.

She was born in Fort Scott, Kan., and later graduated from high school in Liberal. On May 21, 1945, she married the love of her life, William Leonard Lehman. Together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and making lasting memories.

Over the years, she held several occupations. She worked at the ammunition factory in Kansas City during the war years and later as a bookkeeper at Western Auto in Kansas City. She eventually attended the Independence School of Hairdressing, where she became a licensed beautician and owned her own beauty shop. After retirement, she worked in the sporting goods department at Walmart in Clinton where many customers came to her for advice on finding that perfect fishing hole.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Hagen and her husband David Hagen of Venice, Fla., and Debbie Harald and her husband Richard Harald of Billings.

She was a proud grandmother to three grandsons, three great-granddaughters; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, William Leonard Lehman, six siblings and one grandson.

Family will greet relatives and friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at First Baptist Church in Republic. A celebration of life will follow with Pastor Lee Miller and Kevin Smart officiating. She will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Republic following the celebration of life.
