Republic High School expansion open to public Sept. 30

The Republic High School expansion will soon be completed, according to the superintendent report during the Republic Board of Education meeting on Sept. 17.
 
The building will be finished by the end of September according to Superintendent Tyler Overstreet, at which point a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place.
 
Per the report, the first floor, which offers classrooms for band and weights programs have already been in use. The turfed area, an indoor football field, has also been available to the student body.
 
The second floor, which is currently still under construction will become available on Sept. 30 and will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony from 5-7 p.m. After opening remarks and the snipping of the ribbon, student led tours will be given until 7 p.m.
 
Overstreet also reported that phase one of the middle school is progressing well. The remodel, he said, is being isolated to one part of the school so students are removed from construction. The first parts of phase one have been completed, including the main entrance and the counseling offices. The focus now shifts to the renovation of 16 classrooms.
