Willard appoints city administrator

Willard has announced the hiring of a new city administrator after the position remained vacant since Wesley Young left the city for Nixa on July 13.  

Matthew Henry has stepped into the role and brings with him a background in local government administration per the city of Willard. 

Henry was previously the village manager for Indian Point beginning in February 2026. He will work closely with other officials to handle the day-to-day dealings of the municipality.

Among other priorities, he lists transparency as paramount. 

“As City Administrator, my priorities will include supporting responsible economic development, maintaining, and improving public infrastructure, and ensuring efficient and transparent city operations. I believe successful communities are built through collaboration, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to long-term planning,” said Henry in a statement.

Henry wants to make his mark by supporting public services, local businesses and addressing incoming infrastructure needs. 

“My goal is to ensure the city remains well-positioned for future growth while continuing to provide exceptional services and opportunities for residents and businesses alike.”

Henry, who also worked for the city of Branson for nearly nine years, said that he was drawn to Willard because of its location, its high-achieving school district and its sense of community. 

“I was drawn to Willard because of its reputation as a thriving community that values both progress and quality of life,” said Henry. “… I look forward to partnering with the Mayor, Board of Aldermen, City staff, business community, and residents to build upon that foundation.”
