Republic School organizes prayer vigil for Republic Schools
Leaders of Republic First Christian Church have organized a prayer vigil to encourage the community to pray for the Republic School District as it begins a new school year.
The prayer vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, with church leaders and members gathering at each Republic School District building to pray. The community is invited to attend.
First Christian Church Pastor Lee Young asked each specific school building principal for prayer requests and specific prayer needs.
“We were so pleased that several building principals responded, not only with specific prayer needs, but also with gratitude that their efforts on behalf of students were being recognized by a faith-loving community,” said Young.
Church leaders and members will gather at their church building located at 443 N. Main Street in downtown Republic at 7 p.m., with plans for a 15-20 minute time of prayer at each school building starting at about 7:30 p.m.
Community members are invited to pick a school building to meet and pray over at 7:30 p.m. Following prayers at each building, attendees are asked to return to the First Christian Church building for a brief time of prayer for successful school years in the school districts of Billings, Clever, Marionville and Willard. All four of these districts have children or grandchildren who attend Republic First Christian Church.
Separate prayer teams will be at the high school, the middle school, and the intermediate school. There will be a team praying for the combined location of Lyon, Sweeny and Administration school buildings, another team at the location of Price and Early Childhood, and then a team at the combined area of McCulloch and Schofield.
The prayer vigil project originated with the team of elders who provide spiritual leadership for the congregation. Republic-area churches, business leaders, parents of school-age children and local citizens are all asked to join Republic FCC in this community-wide prayer vigil.
