Cleaning for a cause: Local couple expands business to help cancer victims

Chris and Rosy Castlebury have come a long way to get where they are today.

The two registered their cleaning business with Cleaning for a Reason, a program that connects cleaning companies with those in need, including those with cancer. Chris said they wanted to find a way to give back to Republic, the place that they now call home.

The two are not from the area. Rosy originally hails from Mexico and made her way to Texas in 2016, fleeing from an abusive relationship. From there she moved to the Springfield area after encouragement from family and the hope of better opportunities for her children.

Chris has been all around the world in service of the U.S. Army. He served in Bosnia, Iraq and Korea throughout a years-long career in the military.

Chris and Rosy would first meet at the gym. Their relationship developed, and eventually they started their business, Two Flags CP Cleaning Co.

It was Rosy who encouraged Chris to participate more in the community, and now, after building a new life in Republic, they get the chance to do just that.

Both Chris and Rosy lost parents to cancer throughout the years; now, to help others, they participate in a program known as Cleaning for a Reason, which provides free home cleaning to those battling cancer. They also partner with Care to Learn to donate household cleaning kits and offer reduced rates for military and police personnel.

“We really want to give back instead of take from the community,” said Chris.

Their business, which offers residential and commercial cleaning, was founded in June of this year and have seen their revenue increase substantially in just a few months.

“We really want to grow and create jobs here in Republic,” said Chris.

In the future, the couple has plans to expand their business, eventually looking to bring a brick-and-mortar location to the Republic area and purchase a vehicle sporting the company’s branding. But for now, they will continue to give back to the community.
