Ash Grove FFA hosts Calf Fry, dessert auction
The Ash Grove FFA held the 39th annual Ash Grove Youth Fair at the Harris Sports Complex at Ash Grove High School on Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24. There were about 125 entries at the youth fair, including 40 head of cattle, 30 pigs, 49 sheep, 14 poultry entries and 21 goats. The Ash Grove Youth Fair gives young people a chance to practice showing their animals for future ag events.
“What a great weekend it was, so great to be back on school property,” youth fair organizer Robbie Todd said. “MFA has been so great to us over the years but we have out grown the area there. I want to thank the school board and superintendent for allowing us to host this great event. Even though the weather was our biggest hurdle we got the fair in.”
Todd shared his appreciation for local supporters.
“We would love to thank all of our great sponsors and Tents For All Events for setting up our tent. We understand the school has to have work and added rooms for our students to be able to learn but we are still hopeful to see us have a building on school property that will be used for many events of the FFA and community,” Todd said.
The fifth annual Ash Grove FFA Calf Fry was held the evening of Saturday, May 24. The event was moved inside the small gym at Ash Grove High School to prevent weather issues. The gathering included live music, ribeye sandwiches, a watermelon eating contest and a dessert auction.
