Barbara Sperry

Barbara Sperry, 86, of Monett passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett.  

She was born on May 10, 1940 in Monett, daughter of the late Homer Leroy and Margaret Louise (Johnson) Isbell.

She married Alva James "Jim" Sperry Jr. on Aug. 10, 1984, in Monett. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2019.

She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Monett, where she faithfully served as the church secretary for many years. A dedicated volunteer, she generously gave her time to numerous community organizations, including Meals on Wheels, Loaves and Fishes of Monett, JC Wives, and many other charitable endeavors.

She is survived by her three sons, Mitch George and wife Mary of Wentworth, Pat Sperry and wife Marla, of Monett and Jason George, of Monett; one daughter Julie Parrigon and husband Gene, of Battlefield,; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brother, Don Isbell of Monett; one sister, Beth Skaggs of Monett.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-granddaughter, Ava Parrigon and one sister-in-law, Josephine Isbell and one brother-in-law, Bill Skaggs.

Visitation was held at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Monett, on Monday, June 8, followed with funeral service and Pastor Bob Simpson officiating.  Inurnment was in the Monett I.O.O.F Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Crosslines in Monett in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett.
