Blasting off in Republic

Have-A-Blast crowd, vendors set records with 2022 installment

Under normal circumstances a 24-acre city park would provide plenty of space for activities. But Friday night at Republic’s J.R. Martin Park was no normal circumstance, as a record 15,000-17,000 people congregated for the city’s 26th annual Have-A-Blast Patriotic Celebration.
Celebrants came, not only for one of the best fireworks shows in the area, but also for the food and fun, courtesy of 46 vendors and entertainment by 80s tribute band Members Only.
“It’s hard to put into words how cherished and important Have-A-Blast is to our Republic community,” said Parks Director Jared Keeling. “The event continues to grow every year and we are incredibly happy with this year’s turnout. It was a special and memorable night made possible by our sponsors, volunteers, city employees, and many other dedicated individuals and groups. Thanks to all those involved and for everyone who chose to join us for the record- breaking event.”
