Charges against Krenn dismissed

Charges against Dr. Louis Krenn, who allegedly engaged in inappropriate contact with a female foreign-exchange student, have been dismissed. In a notice of dismissal, dated Friday, May 2, Assistant Greene County Prosecutor Conner Harris said that charges of sexual contact with a student and second-degree sexual abuse were being dropped as the victim had left the United States and would not be returning to testify against Krenn.
“The State hereby enters a nolle prosequi and dismisses the above case without prejudice due to witness unavailability,” Harris wrote. “The victim, an international exchange student, has returned to her home country and has made the decision not to travel back for trial testimony.
“The anticipated stress of testifying, compounded by the significant burden of international travel during school, has created legitimate concerns for the victim’s wellbeing, and the State believes
that pursuing prosecution at this time would impose undue hardship on the victim.”
Krenn, formerly of Battlefield, was originally arrested for the alleged crimes on April 23, 2024. In a forensic interview, the victim stated that Krenn touched her inappropriately, asked her questions about her sexual history, and offered her $50 for images of her in a bikini, among other actions. Because the charges have been dismissed without prejudice, they can be potentially refiled in the future.
