DAVID LEWIS ERWIN

David Lewis Erwin, 73, of Springfield passed away on Oct. 25, 2024. He was born in Springfield on Nov. 20, 1950; the son of Louie and Fannie (Cossins) Erwin.
In 1971, he married Karen Lockmiller and moved to Rolla to pursue his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He graduated the University of Missouri-Rolla with honors in 1973 and went to work for the Missouri State Highway and Transportation Department.
Later in life he returned to his love of horses. As owner of KD Ranch, he bred foundation quarter horses and enjoyed trail riding on his favorite horse, Buddy.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Stephanie Thomas and Bethanie (Matt) Kennicott; two grandsons; one sister, Rosemary Hancock; and his nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be remembered for his work ethic and love for horses.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, at Morrisville Cemetery in Morrisville.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home in Ash Grove.
