FANNIE LOU (GIBBS) SKAKIE
Fannie Lou Skakie, 90, of Republic passed away on July 12, 2024. She was born on Aug. 10, 1933, in Sand Gap, Ky., one of nine children born to Charles and Hallie (Blanton) Gibbs.
She married Dave Spencer and together they raised four children. She was a country and western singer, and along with her husband they recorded a 45 in 1969; on one side they sang “King and Queen of Fools” and the other side was a song called “Make up your Mind”, and the band was known as The Spencers. She went on to sing gospel music later in her life. She was a member of Life 360 Church and was active in the women’s bible study class.
After he passed away she was later remarried to Ed Skakie.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie; sons, James and Mike; a sister, Vadis; as well as other extended family and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Dave Spencer and Ed Skakie; son, David Spencer, Jr.; and several of her siblings.
Per her own request, there will be no formal services held.
