Former Willard soccer coach Magee gets five years on sodomy charges

A former Willard soccer coach will do time in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of second-degree sodomy on Friday, May 16. Tim Magee, 54, was sentenced to five years in prison for each count, to be served concurrently, with credit for time already served.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, Magee had sexual contact with the victim between August and September of 2009. At the time, she was a 16-year-old high school student. The victim told investigators that she met Magee in the spring of 2008, and their relationship developed “through school activities, text messages, and phone calls.”
The victim said she kissed Magee in mid-2009 at his home in Willard, and then over the next several weeks, she came to his house on Saturday mornings, while his wife was at work, for the purpose of having sexual relations with Magee. The relationship ended, she said, when her family moved out of state. In a post-Miranda interview, Magee admitted to having a sexual relationship with the student and described the actions between them. He also said that he maintained contact with the student for about a year after her family moved.
According to the probable cause statement, Magee also said he was accused of having an affair with a student at Rio Rancho High School in New Mexico, but the school investigated the accusation and nothing came of it.
Online records show charges were filed against Magee on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2022; it was reported that he was fired as Willard’s head soccer coach the same day. Magee had been with the district since 2005 and became the boys and girls head soccer coach in 2008.
After pleading guilty to the sodomy charges, Magee was remanded to the Greene County Jail.
As of press time, he remained in custody there, pending his transfer to the Missouri Department of Corrections.
