LILLIE MAE TICE

Lillie Mae Tice, 98, of Springfield passed away on May 19, 2024, in Springfield. She was born to William McFarland Cox and Edith Mae Baker Cox on May 2, 1926, in Vinson, Okla. number 17 of 18 children.
She graduated from ninth grade at Stanford Jr. High School in 1942, in Sacramento, Calif. and married Lee George Tice on Oct. 17, 1942, in Sacramento, Calif.
They shared almost 70 years together before he passed away at 90 years of age in July of 2012.
They raised four children of their own and another they adopted; and opened their home to somewhere between 500-600 children as emergency foster care parents for Placer County, Calif.
She is survived by her children: Edith Baird, David (Lillian) Tice, Paul (Mary) Tice, and Karen (Gary) Evers; grandchildren: 17 grandchildren and their spouses; 30 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee George Tice; 17 brothers and sisters and their spouses; son-in-law, George Baird; and granddaughter, Jamie Evers.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
