MARCUS “MARK” MYRON MARYMONT, JR.

Marcus “Mark” Myron Marymont Jr., 79, of Falls Church, Va., formerly of Springfield passed away May 28, 2024. He was born in Norfolk, Va. on Sept. 6, 1944, to Marcus and Mary Helen (Stalling) Marymont.
He spent the early life traveling the world with his family, eventually settling in southwest Missouri. He was a disc jockey at KICK in Springfield and later became a features reporter for Springfield News Leader and papers around the country.
He married Katherine “Kate” (Staley) Marymont, also a journalist, and they were married for almost 47 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kate; his daughter, Emily (Marymont) Sexton and her husband James; two grandchildren; his brother, Harold Marymont; and sister, Mary Hughes; as well as other family and friends.
The family will host a memorial from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, at the Metropolitan Grill in Springfield after a private service.
