MARY JANE MEDLIN

Mary Jane Medlin, 97, of Republic passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on Dec. 1, 1926; the fourth child of nine born to Wilbur and Mary (McFarland) Farris,near Booneville.
She grew up on a large cattle farm and attended Booneville schools. After graduation she met her future husband, Leon E. Medlin. They were married on June 24, 1946, and moved to Republic in 1970.
She worked at MFA Farmers Exchange in Republic for several years then was elected to local government as city collector for 16 years. They were long-time members of Hood United Methodist Church and shared a passion for Republic city administration.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin E. (Ronda) Medlin and Kent E. (Angie) Medlin); three granddaughters; one grandson; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patricia Reichel; and all seven brothers, Lacy, Mac, Dub, Wilb, Bob, Ted, and Larry.
A celebration of life was held on June 30, at the First Christian Church in Republic.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Meador’s Funeral Home in Republic.
