The Republic Fire Department inducted six new firefighters into their ranks with a badge pinning ceremony held at Republic Fire Station One on Friday, June 17. During the ceremony, each of the new firefighters had their badge pinned on their lapels by a family member, after which they were sworn in by their instructor, Captain Jerod Youb, who created the onboarding academy they completed to become Republic firefighters. The city was able to hire five of the six firefighters through funds provided by Public Safety Sales Tax, passed in August of 2021.
