Republic man arrested on burglary charges

A Republic man has been charged with burglary following an incident at the end of September.
The alleged perpetrator, Jeromey K. Dennis, is a frequent offender in the Republic area. This time, he found himself arrested after forcing entry into his ex-girlfriend’s home.
Dennis had shown up at the home on Sept. 29, following a string of text messages to the victim. Some of the text messages read: “Coming at you hard and fast,” “Wakey wakey Jebadiah’s in town,” and “Ever seen ‘The Rundown’ here comes a little thunder here comes a little lightning.”
Following these messages, Dennis showed up at the house and kicked in the door, exclaiming, “I’m home,” according to the probable cause statement. He would then sit on the victim’s couch and ask for some water. Upon arrival of the authorities, Dennis spoke to officers about a separate incident occurring in Springfield rather than the one at hand, but upon hearing another officer discuss the door with the victim, he responded that “he would pay for that.”
Dennis also claimed that the door was already broken and that he just gave it “an extra nudge” because “they wouldn’t answer anyway.”
Arrest, breath test
Dennis was then placed into handcuffs and taken to the Greene County Jail. He also submitted to a breath sample, which tested at a .084 blood alcohol level, though he was court ordered not to drink.
Dennis has more than 10 documented arrests where he was found to have failure to appear warrants, including one that was active at the time of the incident for failure to appear in Webster County. He was also out of jail for less than five days on a separate domestic charge with the same victim.
He now faces a single charge of burglary in the first degree and had his formal arraignment waived on Nov. 7.
