City celebrates most wonderful time of year with full day of festivities

Taking place on Dec. 6, the Kiwanis parade was part of Republic’s Christmas on Main Street, during which festive events unfolded along Main Street and downtown. The parade had 39 registered floats and close to 20 Corvettes with four fire departments also making an appearance. Bible Baptist Republic won best in theme for their float while The Crossing Salon won crowd favorite and Girl Scouts won most creative. Also on showcase throughout the day was a performance by the Price Elementary Choir, a reading of the Polar Express, a bake-off, photos with Santa, a pie-eating contest and the tree lighting ceremony marking the finish of the event.
