Republic PD arrests suspected vandal
After a months-long string of local vandalism, which reportedly began in March, the Republic Police Department may have gotten their man. It was announced last week that the RPD arrested a 69-year-old suspect Nov. 2 in connection with 39 reports of broken windows and property damage. The arrestee is suspected of using a sling shot to send ball bearings through windows of local businesses, some more than once.
A press release from the city confirmed that a search warrant served by local officers gleaned ball bearings, a sling shot, and methamphetamines at the home of the suspect, which was tracked down thanks to footage of the perpetrator’s vehicle provided by victims.
The unnamed senior suspect has been released from police custody and charges are currently pending.
