Republic police collar Springfield's Shearin for allegedly trafficking in stolen identities

Shearin
Suspect had stolen documents, 8 fake Texas identification cards
A Springfield woman was taken into custody by a Republic police officer after a traffic stop allegedly found her in possession of controlled substances, multiple stolen identification documents and multiple fake IDs. Anna Shearin, 32, is charged with trafficking in stolen identities and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
The traffic stop
According to the probable cause statement in the case, on the evening of Friday, March 29, the officer stopped the car Shearin was driving due to its having no license plates. The officer reported that Shearin presented him with an expired Texas driver’s license and a bill of sale for the car from a dealership in Missouri, an Ohio title and a Kentucky title transfer document, however, the officer reported, he was unable to verify Shearin’s ownership of the vehicle. He also said the vehicle’s VIN was not on file in Missouri, Ohio or Kentucky, and that Shearin didn’t have a valid driver’s license in Missouri or Texas.
Items found in the car
The officer placed Shearin under arrest and began an inventory of the vehicle’s contents. He reported finding five grams of methamphetamine, two grams of heroin, 25 dosage units of heroin in syringes, several used syringes with residue and several plastic baggies with a powder residue. He also reported finding a US passport, a Social Security card, a Texas driver’s license, and a US Global Entry card, each of which belonged to a different person and none of them belonging to Shearin.
The officer also reported finding eight fake Texas identification cards, three separate Visa cards belonging to different people, an Amex card belonging to a different person, and a notebook with over 17 different names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
Fake IDs allegedly used in theft
The fake identification cards, the officer said, each had Shearin’s picture on them, but each had differing names, dates of issuance, expiration dates and pedigree information.
In a post-Miranda interview, Shearin allegedly admitted that the IDs were fake, and that she used them to steal from Walmart. The officer reported that he told Shearin that he was interested in investigating the fake IDs and finding who made them. Shearing allegedly told him that the person wasn’t “a big fish” and never confirmed the identify of the person she got them from. The officer later confirmed that the names in the notebooks and the IDs were real people, most out of the state of Texas.
Shearin was booked into the Greene County Jail on Saturday, March 30; she was released on Tuesday, April 9, after posting a $25,000 appearance bond. She will next appear in court on Tuesday, April 30, for a preliminary hearing.
