Richard E. Steimel

Richard E. Steimel, Sr., 74, of Ash Grove, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2020. Steimel was born on May 27, 1946 to August and Mildred (Deutman) Steimel. On Oct. 29, 1966 Richard and Sharon Dorman were united in marriage and shared over 54 years together. Steimel moved to the Ash Grove area over 10 years ago to be closer to his family. He had been a police officer in the St. Louis area and then promoted to detective. Steimel is survived by his wife, Sharon Steimel; children, KimberlyTownsend and husband David, Richard Steimel, Jr., and wife Amanda, David Steimel and wife Lacey, Kristine Steimel, Amanda Cox and husband Kyle, Melissa Hood and husband Shane; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; nieces, Rosanne, Jeanne; beloved horses, Dude and Jodie; other family and many friends. Steimel is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until service time, Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services beganat 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with burial following at Ash Grove Cemetery. The family requested face masks be worn for those attending the services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Steimel’s name to the American Heart Association and may be left at the funeral home.
