Shirley Jean McKinney

Shirley Jean McKinney, 75, of Republic, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 in her home, with family at her side. She was born Jan. 4, 1946 in Yakima, Wash., the daughter of Richard Jeffery and Olie Mae (Simmons) Paul.
McKinney attended United Pentecostal Church of Republic.
She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Carter; her parents; brothers, Leo Paul, Richard Paul, Wayne Paul, and Robert Paul; and sisters, Reva Jones, Leota Broadway, Connie Vincint, Cleo Stewart, and Rachel Shores.
McKinney is survived by her husband, Lawrence McKinney, of the home; sons, Mark Carter and Bryan Carter, both of Chesapeake, and Kenneth VanZandt, of Republic; four grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joy Paul-Campbell, of Mt. Vernon; church family, and many other friends and family.
A visitation was from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. The burial will be held at a later date in the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery, Lindsay, Calif. Online condolences may be made at meadorsfuneralhome.com.
