In a surprise move, Ash Grove Board of Education member Cody Stacey stepped down from his position prior to the board’s Nov. 19 meeting. Stacey was first elected to the board in April 2024, with his three-year term expiring in April 2027.
Although a letter of resignation was submitted to the board by Stacey—who was absent from the meeting—it was not read aloud at the proceedings.
During the new business portion of the meeting, the remaining members voted 6-0 to accept Stacey’s resignation.
“Mr. Stacey’s service to the board, our district, and our students is greatly appreciated,” said Superintendent Shane Medlin in an email days after the meeting.
Medlin added that since Stacey’s resignation was within 30 days of the fulfillment of the seat left vacant by David Alborn, the board could return to the applicants who applied for Alborn’s seat, which was eventually filled by Jordon Miller. Rachel Renshaw, who applied for Alborn’s seat confirmed that she was still interested in serving. She will be sworn in at the Dec. 17 meeting of the board. She will fulfill the remainder of Stacey’s term which will end in April 2027.

 Construction update
It was also announced during the Nov. 19 meeting that construction on the district’s bond project is scheduled to begin on Jan. 12, 2026, with substantial completion to be done by December 2026. These dates were submitted by Branco who will be overseeing the project.
