SYLVIA "LOU" (NELSON) PECK

Sylvia L. Peck (Nelson), 81, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020 in Republic. Her husband George later followed her in death on Oct. 13, 2022. She was born in Wheeling, W.Va., and served in the United States Army. She met her husband George M. Peck, Rogersville, during his service in the United States Navy. They were married in 1966
and moved to Republic, where they would reside for 50 years.
Peck was devoted to her children. She also served as a local Den Leader for the Boy Scouts. Her love of reading and drawing were passed on to her son, daughter, and her four granddaughters: Michael T. and Mary Peck; Sutton and Reese (Columbia, S.C.) and Sheila A. (Peck) and Shane Jones; Hannah and Holly (St. Louis).

Peck is survived by her brother Thomas Nelson and wife Ginger of Cornelius, Ore., sister Jean McKinney and husband Jim of Tacoma, Wash., many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Peck’s memorial service will be held graveside at 10 a.m. on June 10, 2023 at West Finley Cemetery–Fordland. She will be laid to rest with her husband George in a joint memorial service with both receiving military honors.
