TERRY LEE MOORE

Terry Lee Moore, 71, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023. He was born on Aug. 6, 1952, the youngest son of Richard and Luetta Moore in Ash Grove.
He graduated from Missouri State University’s music education program and was a gifted pianist. He shared his gift and love of music with elementary and high school students as a music teacher and choral director in the Decatur City School system in Decatur, Ala., as well as participated in community theatre as pianist and musical director in both Decatur and Tuscaloosa. Prior to teaching, he spent time as an accountant for Bunge Corporation, where he met his wife Kaye Hazle Moore. After retiring from teaching in 2012, he lived out a dream job of accompanying a musical theatre program as the staff accompanist for the University of Alabama’s Theatre and Dance program. He also served as pianist in various churches, namely First Baptist Church of Decatur where he accompanied for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife,Kaye; daughters, Ashley (Tyler) and Erin; one granddaughter; his mother; his sister, Lisa Moore; his brother, Randy (Terry) Moore ; and six nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Rick.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, Oct. 1, at First Baptist Church in Decatur, Ala. Services will be held in Tuscaloosa at a later date.
