Community gathers for fifth annual Western Greene County Veterans Parade
Settling for nothing less, the Willard community turned out in full force Saturday to show love to our local veterans at the fifth annual Western Greene County Veterans Day Parade. Accompanied by beautiful fall weather, thousands of onlookers lined Jackson Street as an hour
long parade slowly rolled by. The impressive spectacle included veteran- themed floats, classic cars, school bands, military vehicles and horsemen, among others who embraced the “Remembering
Desert Storm” theme.
Following the parade, which began at Willard High School, was a flag retirement ceremony at Jackson Street Park at 1 p.m. which kicked off an afternoon Veterans Day celebration. Concluding the patriotic party was a fireworks show at 5:30 p.m. Visit greenecountycommonwealth. com for a full gallery of parade photos.
