WILMA GERALDINE “GERRY” JONES

Wilma Geraldine “Gerry” Jones, 89, of Springfield passed away on June 19, 2024. She was born in Christian County on Feb. 3, 1935, to Vernon and Lucille Cook and grew up in Clever; graduating from Clever High School. She also graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield in 1956. It was during this time that she met Harold Jones, who was a pre-med student at Southwest Missouri State College. The couple married in 1956.
They were longtime members of Second Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served as a children’s Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School Director for decades, she was also active in the women’s ministry and many community outreach activities for more than 50 years.
She is survived by two sons, Chris (Valorie) Jones of Elm Springs, Ark. and Eric Jones of Billings; daughter, Beth (Don) Robb of Coppell, Texas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Luella (L.J.) Bybee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services were held on Monday, June 24, at Second Baptist Church in Springfield, with Dr. John Marshall officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to the personal care of Meadors Funeral Home in Republic.
