Shown above is the planned work on Highway MM. The road will be redirected to meet U.S. Highway 60 at an alternative point, passing over the railroad in doing so. The project began construction on Feb. 16 and is expected to cost $23 million when all work is complete.

Public information meeting set for Feb. 26 at Republic City Hall to discuss changes

A meeting will be held on Feb. 26 to answer questions about the Highway MM realignment to be soon undertaken in Republic.
Two meetings have been held before this one, in February and April of 2024. The Feb. 26, 2026, meeting will be a pre-construction meeting in a come-and-go style with no formal presentation held at Republic City Council chambers at Republic City Hall. The meeting will address traffic impacts during construction and project information. It will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. Those unable to attend the meeting in person can view exhibits and obtain information by visiting the MoDOT website.
The MM realignment route is expected to begin work this month, with project costs estimated to be nearly $23 million.
The project will adjust where Highway MM meets U.S. Highway 60 in Republic in order to alleviate traffic and make the intersection safer, but it will do more than that. This venture will encompass wide-sweeping changes to the road, including the construction of a new section of roadway, the widening of the existing roadway, a new bridge over the BNSF Railroad south of Haile Street, and a roundabout.
There will be a series of road and lane closures throughout the project. With U.S. Highway 60 and many surrounding roads being completely closed in some areas. Construction had already begun as of Monday, Feb. 16. The project is estimated to be completed by May 2028.
