Republic Pumpkin Daze Fall Festival to debut Sept. 30

From last year’s Pumpkin Daze, a long line of monstrous produce is on display after being weighed in at J.R. Martin Park. Produce competitions will still be part of the festivities with the merger.
Republic’s J.R. Martin Park to host super festival with merger of longtime entities
It was announced last week that longtime, Republic community staples Kiwanis Fall Festival and Republic Pumpkin Daze will be merging this fall for a super festival of sorts, to be held at J.R. Martin Park.
The two-day event will be called the Republic Pumpkin Daze Fall Festival and will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.
The Kiwanis Fall Festival dates back to the 1960s and offered locals the opportunity to enjoy carnival rides and games in the late summer at the Kiwanis grounds along Hines Street.
Republic Pumpkin Daze, last year, moved to J.R. Martin Park in concert with the city’s sesquicentenniel celebration. The move from downtown will better accommodate the merger with the Kiwanis Fall Festival, as space and parking are more available.
The culmination of the two will include giant produce, Kiwanis Bingo and Kid’s Zone, live music, vendors and much more, although carnival rides will no longer be part of the lineup.
For vendors interested in participating, applications will be available soon. For more information visit republicpumpkindaze. com or follow the local organizations on Facebook.
