Women in Dairy group celebrates June as National Dairy Month
Dairy farmers are passionate about helping consumers understand where their milk comes from. In celebration of June Dairy Month, local dairy farmers will bring a cow and calf to Springfield’s Battlefield Price Cutter from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8.
Most consumers know very little about what happens day-to-day on a dairy farm. Many have never touched a dairy cow. The Women in Dairy group with MU Extension wanted to provide the opportunity.
“The ladies are excited to share dairy facts with the shoppers,” said Reagan Bluel, MU Extension Dairy specialist. “We’ll have a Brown Swiss cow and Guernsey calf for everyone to pet while they get their farming questions answered by the experts, our farmers.”
Come test your dairy knowledge with the trivia wheel at this free event. Prices and snacks will be provided thanks to the generous support of Midwest Dairy and Dairy Farmers of America.
Missouri is home to over 425 Grade A dairy farms, producing fresh local dairy products for your family. These farms and dairy processors generate $2.2 billion dollars in value-added contributions for the state.
