Timeline set for major projects in Republic
Following overwhelming voter approval during the Aug. 2 election, major park projects are now slated for the city of Republic. The timeline of which was made known by Parks and Recreation Director Jared Keeling at the Aug. 16 Republic City Council meeting.
The first major undertaking for the city is transforming J.R. Martin Park, Hines Street, into a community event space, including a designated spot for a farmers market. The overall project is expected to be complete and open by the spring of 2024.
Next on the list is the Republic Aquatic Center. Thanks to the generous Republic electorate the center will double in size, including a lazy river. The newly revamped pool will be expected to open in all its lazy glory in the summer of 2025.
The biggest of all projects, however, will be the development of more than 100 acres near Brookline into a community park. The future regional sports complex will boast baseball fields, soccer fields, pickle ball courts and much more. The opening of this facility is expected in spring of 2025, in time for spring soccer.
