JAYNE CHANEY

Jayne Chaney, 91, of Republic passed away surrounded by her loving family, at her home, in the early morning of Nov. 1, 2022. Chaney was born on June 6, 1931, in Galena, to Burnel and Minerva (Bloomer) Curtis. She was the oldest child in a family of nine children.
Chaney lost her birth mother at a young age, and the responsibility of raising her younger sibling fell upon her, and she accepted that roll honorably. In 1948, she married Noah Chaney, and they quickly added seven children of their own to the mix, Danny, Ronnie, Eddie, Terry, Eydie, Daryl and Renee.
Chaney operated a daycare in her home, while raising her own children. Sometimes there were up to 30 children in the home at a given time.
Chaney was a founding member of The United Pentecostal Church of Republic, attending from the time it started in Pastor Mark Morris’ home up until her health began to decline.
Chaney is preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Jewell Curtis; husband of 74 years, Noah, who passed just three short months ago; sons Ronnie and Daryl; a grandson; three infant siblings, Marna Marie Curtis, Paul Edward Curtis and Freddie Medford Curtis; and three grown siblings, Janet Bicklein, Bertha Dean Branstetter and Katherine Henry.
Chaney is survived by her children Dan (Sandy) Chaney, Eddie (Shelley) Chaney, Terry (Lodessa) Chaney, Eydie (Kelly) Wallander and Renee Chaney and fiancée Derek Gillis; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters Loretta Corrine Williams (Dewey) and Patricia June Johnson (Eugene); as well as other family and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at The United Pentecostal Church of Republic (333 W State Highway 174) with a celebration of life to follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Mark Morris officiating.
