JOYCE ANN PETTEY

Joyce Ann Pettey, 78, of Springfield passed away Aug. 7, at her home in Springfield. She was born on March 16, 1945, to  Rufus and Letha Johnson  in Hopewell, Va..
She married Reverend George Grant Pettey, Sr., with whom she fell in love at church on the day he got saved and gave his life to Jesus. Together, they created a family, and she served her entire life as a dedicated pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. During her years as the pastor’s wife, she ministered at Bible Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Victory Baptist Church in Springfield, and finally at Pleasant View Baptist Church, Bois D’Arc.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Richard) Newman; son, George (Jeanie) Pettey; daughter, Deborah  (Steve) Triplett; daughter, Joy Pettey; 12 grandchildren; her younger sister Barbara “Bobbie” Lackey and her husband John; as well as a host of other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; two older sisters, Virginia Hayes and Dorothy Slusser; and several of her older brothers.
Visitation and funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 12,  at Greenlawn North Funeral Home. Burial was held on Monday, Aug. 14, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
