Detention Officer Lopez accused of inappropriate conduct
Greene County Detention Officer Alejandro Lopez, a now-former employee with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, has been arrested following inappropriate conduct with a female inmate.
An investigation was conducted on Lopez after information was relayed to the Sheriff’s Office by a female inmate in the Greene County Jail. The inmate called the Greene County Jail Prison Rape Elimination Act hotline, claiming that Lopez had watched her shower and had acted in an inappropriate manner on multiple occasions.
Lopez was personally arrested by Sheriff Jim Arnott on charges of attempted sexual conduct and attempted sexual conduct with a prisoner, the latter of which is a felony. Lopez is now being held in the Greene County Jail with a bond of $20,000; he has been an employee with the organization since 2022.
In a press release following the arrest, Arnott made a statement regarding the situation.
“This office serves the citizens with a high standard of integrity, professionalism, and dedication. Instances like these will not be tolerated.”
