MARY CATHERINE TAYLOR

Mary Catherine Taylor, 92, of Republic passed away on April 13, 2024. She was born in Frankfurt, W. Va. to Forest and Mary (Keshner) Wyatt on Nov. 13, 1931.
She graduated from Greenbriar High School with the class of 1949.
On April 23, 1950, she married James “Jim” Albert Taylor Sr. after the young couple, never having been graced with patience in matters of the heart, crossed the border into Virginia to ‘get on with it.’
She and her husband were the 2010 recipients of the Community Service Award from Republic Community Foundation for their commitment to volunteering and was a longtime member of Hood United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children: Sharon (Ron) Karroll, Kathy (Bruce) Sears, James (Karen) Taylor Sr., Charles (Jan) Taylor, and Shelly (Brandon) Walker, seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson as well as other extended family and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and her two siblings.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 23, at Hood United Methodist Church, with Pastor Richard Fine officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
