Ash Grove’s Sontheimer receives Max and Doris King scholarship

Kadence Sontheimer, a 2024 graduate of Ash Grove High School, has received the Max and Doris King Memorial Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
Sontheimer, the daughter of Jim and Stacy Sontheimer, will attend the University of Missouri this fall, where she plans to pursue a bachelor’s in animal sciences.
“I am grateful for the support given by those supplying this scholarship; not only will it help me with my future education, it will help me with my overall future as well,” Sontheimer said. “Scholarships help all sorts of kids just like me, seeking to further their education and to improve the world.”
The Max and Doris King Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Debbie and Jim Pelkie to honor Debbie’s parents and to benefit Ash Grove High School graduates with an interest in agriculture.
The CFO and its regional affiliate foundations — including the Ash Grove Area Community Foundation — hold about 480 scholarship funds, established by generous donors to help students from across central and southern Missouri achieve their goals of higher education. The application period for the 2025–26 school year will open Jan. 1, 2025, and run through mid-March.
