Domestic situation leads to major drug bust for Republic PD

Officers with the Republic Police Department confiscated these weapons and marijuana while executing a search warrant on Thursday, April 10.
When officers with the Republic Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at the 2000 block on East Lee in Republic on Thursday, April 10, they found more than they expected.
“Officers were called to a domestic disturbance,” said Brian Sells, chief of the Republic Police Department, “and evidence obtained during that call for service led to an officer applying for a search warrant.”
According to a post on the Republic PD’s Facebook page, when the officers executed the warrant, they turned up substantial amounts of weapons, drugs, and more.
“(The) officers executed a search warrant for drugs,” the post stated. “The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 53 pounds of marijuana, eight firearms, and over $5,000 in cash.”
Sells said that a suspect was arrested and turned over to the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, along with the confiscated items. Further information on the suspect was unavailable as of press time.
The Facebook post stated that the bust showed the devotion of the Republic PD to their community.
“This successful effort reflects our department’s continued commitment to targeting illegal drug activity and keeping dangerous weapons off our streets,” the post stated. “We are proud of the work our officers put in each day to keep our community safe.”
