Softball Lady Tigers get three more wins for Republic

Republic softball picked up two more wins, one against conference rival Willard, and one at Bolivar against one of the best pitchers in southwest Missouri. In between, Republic suffered a walk-off loss at Kickapoo.
At Willard, Republic rallied twice with no runners on base and two outs. Those two rallies accounted for five runs in a 9–3 victory. Megan Thorne had three hits and three RBIs. A.J. Fenske added two hits and an RBI, and Megan Weis drove in two runs.
The Lady Tigers followed that up with another conference win at Joplin, in the first-ever COC meeting between the schools. Republic scored nine runs in the last three innings, and Fenske picked up the win in the pitching circle.
At Kickapoo, Republic scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but that was all they’d get. After a two-run double by Fenske, the Lady Tigers failed to score again. Kickapoo clawed its way back and won the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Bolivar pitcher Katie Brooks held Republic to five hits Monday, but six Bolivar errors helped Republic come out on top, 7–6. Riley Laub had a pair of hits for Republic. Fenske was the winning pitcher and Avery Romans got the save.
