The Ozarks Steam Engine Association has officially moved their steam engines from Republic to their new, more spacious home in Halltown. The show has been a staple in the Republic area for 60 years and contains many steam traction engines, as well as some model steam engines for viewing.

Jimmy Birch, a pillar in the community of Ash Grove, passed away on July 15 in his home. Birch, 81, owned and operated Birch Funeral Home in Ash Grove on East Main Street for decades. He was the Past Master of Masonic Lodge #100 and a military veteran, stationed in Vietnam.

Chantal Ogbeifun, a senior from the Republic R-III School District, is the state winner of a $2,500 scholarship awarded by FutureBuilders, the education foundation of the Missouri School Boards’ Association.

More than 30 kids and several adults made the stroll through Ash Grove's Serenity Valley subdivision the morning of July 4, for the Annual Fourth of July Parade. The show included patriotically decorated bicycles, motorized rigs and many participants afoot.

The community turned out in masse for this year's Have-a-Blast celebration at J.R. Martin Park in Republic, Friday, June 30. Available parking spaces were in short supply anywhere near the scene of the action, as vehicles filled parking lots of local businesses and schools.

The citizens of Republic have come together around a community favorite, Todd Smith. Smith is a longtime, former football coach and teacher for the Tigers who has recently been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, but he doesn't let that lower his spirits.
