The citizens of Republic have come together around a community favorite, Todd Smith. Smith is a longtime, former football coach and teacher for the Tigers who has recently been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, but he doesn't let that lower his spirits.

On June 26, at Missouri State University's Darr Agricultural Center, Ash Grove Elementary School first grade teacher Michelle Thompson was named SW Regional Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024 as determined by the Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning.

The annual Sparks in the Park Fourth of July celebration began at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, with a parade and ended with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. David Alborn, who helped organize the event with the Ash Grove Masonic Lodge 100 was pleased with the day.
